Approach
My approach relies upon current research and established practices in the fields of Clinical & Counselling Psychology, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) & related modalities such as: Mindfulness, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Integrative Behavioural Couples Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Significant emphasis is placed on:
- Creating open, respectful, and collaborative relationships with clients
- Developing customized, targeted treatment goals and plans
- Actively working with effective cognitive, behavioural and interpersonal approaches
Therapeutic services aim to help clients:
- Understand their difficulties and challenges in a new light
- Develop and apply new skills and alternative methods of coping
- Become self-sufficient in the long-term application of what was learned in therapy
During therapy, clients are supported in the process of identifying, as well as reacting differently to, the factors that are maintaining or even magnifying their challenges. In particular, focus is placed on problematic and patterned ways of thinking, feeling and behaving, and the links between all three.
Therapeutic interventions rely upon an active, collaborative relationship in which new approaches can be tested or experimented with during and outside therapy sessions.
Throughout the course of therapy, progress is measured against treatment goals and follow-up sessions are provided to clients after the core treatment plan is complete to solidify progress.
